Most of the printer manufactory set the page count chip inside the drum unit, when the counter reaches to the pages that drum unit set by the manufacture, the printer will shut off the drum unit. If at that time your printer still printing good copies, just replace the chip inside the drum unit and can use it for another Cycle. Save $$$
